With Julie Charles, associate curator, education, SFMOMA

Pablo Picasso's work seems determinedly and traditionally male, even misogynist at times. Yet few, if any, artists have explored male sexuality, its strength and weakness, as profoundly as Picasso. Using the works in the Picasso and American Art exhibition and SFMOMA’s own collection as the basis for this discussion, Charles provides an art historical perspective and encourages participants to join in a conversation about this artist’s contribution to an understanding of sexuality in modern art. The session concludes with a visit to the galleries.
