Art After Hours: Spencer Bates June 9, 2010

Spencer Bates, a DC-based singer, songwriter, and pianist and winner of the 2007 Takoma Park Folk Festival Emerging Artist competition, will perform songs from his three self-released albums, Goodnight Rosebud, The Back To School EP, and Everybody Has A Song, as well as unreleased original works. Spencer is a self-taught musician who relies upon only his voice and piano. His original music spans the genres of pop, rock, and folk. Whether subdued and introspective or soaring and forceful, Spencer’s voice is a remarkable instrument. Spencer chooses his words and melodies with wisdom beyond his years. His lyrics are mature and insightful, and his arrangements are intricate, direct, and indelible.
