The following events have been organised to commemorate Armed Forces Day 2012. The purpose of ‘Armed Forces Week’ is to achieve the aims of the Croydon Armed Forces Community Covenant, and in particular:

• Improve public understanding and awareness of issues affecting the Armed Forces Community;
• To remember the sacrifices made by the Armed Forces Community; and
• To help to integrate the Armed Forces Community into local life.

The events are as follows:

Tuesday 26th June 2012: 1pm – 3pm 'The post-service health and social care needs of service personnel'. Speaker: Lt Col. Mike Smith, Regimental Casualty Officer, The Rifles

Wednesday 27th June 2012 (evening event): 6pm – 8pm. 'Money management and financial planning'. Speaker(s): Alison Wyman, Benefits and Money Advice Manager, Royal British Legion; Roni Marsh, Senior Caseworker, Croydon & Sutton Law Centre

Thursday 28th June 2012 (morning event): 8am – 10am. 'The rights and responsibilities of the employers of reservists'. Speaker: Mark Richards, Regional Campaign Director (Greater London), SaBRE

Friday 29th June 2012: 11am – 1pm. 'The transition to employment in to civilian life'. Speaker: Guy Jackson, Employment Support Manager, REDS10 (and former Royal Marine Commando).
