Market Place
Wisbech, England PE13 1DP

On Sunday 26th June as part of the Wisbech Armed Forces Day celebrations, cadets from all three services will march in The Market Place to pay a tribute to local veterans for their service to the country. The veterans will range from those who served in the Second World War right up to date with representatives from those who have served in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The tribute will commence at 1 pm with the raising of the Armed Forces Day flag. This will be followed by the parade at 2pm. No one person will take the salute as all of the veterans will stand to receive the tribute from the cadets. The flag will be lowered in a sunset ceremony at 3pm.

The march past will be the highlight of events taking place in the Market during the day. From 10 am there will be stalls from Ex Service Organisations, which will display their current activities and each will provide an opportunity for visitors to talk to veterans and listen to their stories. The Cadet organisations will also have stalls and they will also display their various activities as well as offering a chance to those interested to join them. There will be military vehicles in the Market Place, which will give the chance to experience the conditions that some of the veterans endured during their service as well as a display from the Fenland Aviation Museum. Refreshments and drinks will be available. A competition to make the best paper aeroplane will run throughout the day

All local veterans are invited and are requested to wear their Veterans Badge so that they are easily identifiable. Any donations received during the day will be divided equally between the Benevolent Funds of all three services
