Wigan, England WN1 3DS

On Saturday 29th June 2013, Wigan Council are proud to be hosting Armed Forces Day in the Town Centre for the 2nd year running. As a local authority we are looking to increase public awareness and to highlight the valuable contributions that service personnel make to both their country and to their local community. The day will focus on supporting the men and women who have served and are continuing to serve in Her Majesty’s Armed Forces.

The essence of the day will centre around the Service personnel’s parade through the town centre, starting at Crompton Street and finishing with a short service around the cenotaph at 11am by Cannon Hutchinson. We have a variety of military vehicles already confirmed that will be on display, these include a Mark IX Spitfire BS 435, RAF Fuel Bowser and a Green Goddess. Alongside these will be stalls from a number of differing organisations including Guide Dogs for the Blind, ABF The Soldiers Charity, Age UK Wigan Borough and SSAFA. There will be family themed entertainment in the town centre for young and old to enjoy.
