There will be sporting celebrations from 11am - 3pm, featuring practical challenges such as climbing, cricket, karting and circus skills. From noon onwards there will be stalls from welfare organisation such as the British Legion, the British Limbless Ex Service Men's Association, Help for Heroes and the Nottinghamshire Victoria Cross Committee. We will also be joined by representatives from numerous uniformed youth orginastions such as the Scouts, Guides, and ATC. Look out for a display of a Viking Glider - with a 17m wing span it'll be hard to miss! Food will be served from the Scouts mess tent, plus our on site licensed bar. Numerous public houses and restaurants surrounding the park will be offering special discounts to armed service personnel and their families - look out for local signs.

One of the highlights of the day will be the Salute the Soldier exhibition – a display of stories, photographs and poetry which will be created as part of an intergeneration art and living history project.

There will be live music and entertainment throughout the day, including:

from 5pm The Nottinghamshire Police Pipe Band
from 6pm Erin Parker and the Sounds of the 40s Show

As the sun sets the culmination of the event will be the council’s popular annual ‘last night of the proms’ style family concert at 7pm which has been specially moved to tie in with the day. There will be an anticipated attendance of over 2000 people, entertained by Nottingham Concert Band and guest singers with a rousing programme of popular British themed classics such as Jerusalem, Land of Hope and Glory and Rule Britannia to end the day in patriotic fashion.
