Areon Flutes CD Release Party March 18, 2012

The nationally-recognized, award-winning Areon Flutes will be hosting a CD Release Party at the Bryant Street Gallery in Palo Alto to commemorate the anticipated release of their first full-length CD, Gossip Cats are Dancing.

Areon members include Kassey Plaha, Amelia Vitarelli, and Jill Heinke. The CD release party will feature music from their anticipated first full-length album, which includes: Gossip Cats are Dancing, written by and featuring and modern flute guru Robert Dick on an F Bass Flute improv solo; Eyewitness, also by Dick; Four Elements by Chia-Ying Chiang, the winner of Areon's International Chamber Competition; Train Dreams (Four Elements Remix) and One Tree Catching Light, both written by Michael Sempert, the lead singer of popular San Francisco indie rock band Birds and Batteries (of which Areon member Jill Heinke is the bassist).

Areon Flutes are a professional chamber ensemble whose history includes a 2007 debut at Carnegie Hall's Weill Hall and being the first flute ensemble to ever medal at the Fischoff Chamber Music Competition (in 2008--they won the Bronze). As part of their mission to enrich the field of flute chamber music, they have established not only an International Chamber Competition but also a Summer Flute Institute and a year-round Chamber Music School.
