Ever wanted to control your toaster from Twitter? Or make your plants call you when they need watering? Or help Kashmiri shepherds prevent their flocks from wandering into a military frontier?

This quick talk and hack session will give you a hands-on introduction to the Arudino, an open source physical computing platform designed to help programmers, designers, and artists build exactly these kinds of real world interaction projects. We'll take a whirlwind tour of the Arduino software and hardware with examples from actual projects and then split up into groups to build our own. All experience levels and interest types welcome.
