Archaeology for the curious! The Oregon Archaeological Society starts its annual training sessions for archaeology volunteers on January 27, 2007. This is a series of Saturday classes that give a great introduction to Northwest archaeology and basic field procedures. Its a great way to become qualified to volunteer for real archaeology projects.

Classes are open to the public and more information may be found at: http://oregonarchaeological.org/training.htm

I attended these classes a few years ago and they're great! Since then I've volunteered on several really cool archaeology projects in Oregon.
