April's Soap Box Lecture by Ray Beldner is titled: "It's Who You Know: A Personal Genealogy of the Artists of Bernal Heights"

Before their was MySpace, LinkedIn, or Yelp.com, there was simple, face-to-face social networking or "who you knew." Who are the actors, writers, visual artists, and musicians on Bernal hill and how might you be connected to them?

Join us as Beldner maps out the history of artists on the hill, their connection to each other and his own relationship to them. It's a lesson in "six degrees of separation" or the "small world" theory popularized by the famed social psychologist Stanley Milgram.

Ray Beldner is an artist and art teacher, a former resident of the hill, and current owner of Bernal Bubbles laundromat. His lecture will be informative and funny and will unearth the myriad and surprising connections with all have with each other.

After the lecture, refreshments will be served up the street at 301 Bocana Gallery (@ Cortland Ave.)
