If you were mesmerized by Sabra Guzman at Sova a few weeks ago, or wish you had been, you're in luck! She'll be back at Sova on September 5th with the Blind Tiger String Band - a brand-new group of young musicians playing old music in southern Virginia and eastern Kentucky (whoo whoo). Also in the band are Anna Roberts-Gevalt, who until recently was rocking the fiddle at my alma mater Wesleyan, and Brett Ratliff and John Haywood, two Kentucky musicians steeped in the area's musical traditions. They'll be playing a concert set at 8, and then we'll move the furniture around and have another foot-stompin sweaty DC summer square dance. And I wouldn't be surprised if the night ends with a rockin jam session, so you might just want to bring those instruments.
