Chicago will be a city of pristine pups after the Anti-Cruelty Society’s annual dog wash, which will be held on Saturday, August 4 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the top level of The Anti-Cruelty Society garage at 169 W. Grand (car entry on Wells).

Skilled volunteers will be on hand to suds up, dry, and brush the furry friends. Free refreshments for the pooches and people will be available, along with free parking for owners. The Society’s behavior specialists will be on hand to answer questions and provide advice on behavior and training issues.

The cost for a day at the doggie spa? Only $10 for dogs 25 lbs. and under, $15 for dogs 26 to 49 lbs. and $25 for dogs 50 lbs and more. All proceeds will be used to benefit The Anti-Cruelty Society’s life-saving programs and services. No appointments are necessary.

From 75 to 100 dogs are expected, making for a real “dog days of summer!” Bring your camera for fun photos.

Everyone is encouraged to attend, yet some restrictions apply. All dogs must be on a leash at all times. Dogs should also be up to date on all vaccinations, should not be in heat, and should not have an aggressive personality.

The Anti-Cruelty Society is in its 108th year of helping thousands of animals through its shelter, adoption, veterinary, rehabilitation & treatment, cruelty investigation and rescue, humane education, community outreach, and behavior and training programs. Since 1999, its second century of caring, The Anti-Cruelty Society found loving homes for over 46,000 dogs and cats and spayed or neutered over 73,000 pets and presented human education to 260,000 school children and community groups.
