BAND MEMBERS
Ed Wise - Leader/Bass Ed is currently the director of the University of Pennsylvania Jazz Ensemble. He specializes in traditional jazz, modern jazz, and arranging & plays upright and electric bass. Since relocating from New Orleans, he brings decades of jazz experience to Philadelphia. He also formed his own band Ed Wise’s New Orleans Jazz Band.

Bob Ferguson - Trumpet Bob is a current member of the Atlantic City Jazz Band led by Herb Roselle. He also heads up his on sextet and has appeared at Jazz Vespers in Cape May and he has appeared on numerous occasions at the Cape May jazz festival.

Jerry Rife - Clarinet Jerry is the leader of the Rhythm Kings and will be appearing for TSJS on September 20 at Brooklawn. He is Professor of Music and Chairman of the Fine Arts Department at Rider University in Lawrenceville, NJ, and teaches graduate-level musicology at Westminster College of the Arts.

Bill Newnam-Trombone Bill co-leads along with “Ragtime” Bobby Quayle’s Dixieland sextet. He also played with Jim Crane and the Steel Pier Remembered Big Band to celebrate Atlantic City’s 150th birthday. He spent a few years at the Latin Casino in Cherry Hill NJ and a year at the Fairmont Hotel in the show band. He recorded with the Sal Soul orchestra and played with the wonderful Danny Mento band. Spent years with jazz bands in Atlantic City mostly at the Showboat.

Pat Mercuri - Guitar/Banjo Pat is one of the area’s most active freelance musicians playing jazz, pop and classical music. He has played for the Phila Orchestra and other ballet, opera and symphonies in Phila, Atlantic City and NYC. His recent tend has been trad jazz playing, traveling and recording with the Midiri Brothers sextet. He also gives lectures and demonstrations at Penn State’s Delaware County campus.

Skip Rohrich - Drums Skip is the owner of a drum shop in Newark Delaware. Skip Rohrich considers soprano saxophonist Steve Lacy and pianist Paul Bley to be his main musical influences. He formed the group 53 Stations with saxophonist/composer Jason Shapiro. Skip considers the summer he spent studying with jazz drummer Barry Altschul to have been the most influential on his career.
