Annual Story Theater Festival: the Best of Youth Ensembles February 26, 2011

Piven Theatre Workshop's Performance Lab announces its Young People's Company and Performance Project's Annual Shows. Highlighting the very best in improvisation and story theatre form, the two companies each work as an ensemble to create original adaptations of stories and will perform new literary adaptations. The Young People's Company was founded over 30 years ago and still thrives as the most advanced level class that high school students strive for when studying at the Workshop; Performance Project serves advanced junior high students. Notable alumni of the Young People's Company include Jeremy Piven, John, Joan & Ann Cusack, director Jessica Thebus, and award winning playwright Sarah Ruhl. Performance Project is comprised of advanced level junior high students in 7th - 9th grade. Students in this performance troupe are already well-versed in the Piven Technique and are building the skills necessary to move on to more advanced coursework at the Workshop.
