Can’t make it to New Orleans? No worries. Join us for a river-themed Mardi Gras celebration at the Anacostia Community Museum. Participate in a fun filled day of Mardi Gras and river-inspired activities including storytelling about the Mississippi River, river art, Mississippi River culture-themed music from the Dixie Power Trio band, WPFW’s Zydeco DJ Cowboy Fred dance party, face painting and balloon river animal making. Plus, you can sign up for Januwa Moja-Nelson’s Adornment Workshop and receive a keepsake photo of yourself in colorful attire. While on site you can visit the exhibition, "Reclaiming the Edge: Urban Waterways and Civic Engagement. Whatever your age, there is sure to be something to capture your interest at this wonderful event.

Hot off the press: Free shuttle bus service is available from the Anacostia Metro Station every 20 minutes starting at 10 am to the museum in a continuous loop until 5pm.
