Description: Chicago City Arts Gallery is delighted to host the birth of a new movement in American folk art. With great art, good music, wine and conversation with the artists, you will help them make their first strategic strike on the contemporary art scene, here, in Chicago, a great urban center that retains its roots to the Midwestern soil. Discover why these artists' are relevant to today's Chicago art.

Folk art can still find itself misunderstood in the urban centers which drive the national dialogue. The work of the American Ruralist Movement offers up an antidote with their contemporary sense of experimentation: in the media used to create, in the content embodied in it, in their embrace of their art as a business and, finally, in the sense of play that animates their work and lifts it away from a specific label to the universal joys of creativity.
