Local indie music booker, manager and promoter Annie Burns is sad to announce she will be moving herself and her business out-of-state, starting in June. Before departing for her new home of Boston, MA, Annie will be throwing one last party in NYC. Annie’s Last Blast features two of Annie’s favorite bands; NYC power-pop band, reuniting for one-night only: Motion Picture, and Boston co-ed rock n’ rollers Aloud, performing at Arlene’s Grocery on the Lower East Side on Friday, May 29, 2009 from 7:30-10pm.

Packing and moving sucks; the less stuff to move, the better! So between bands, Annie will be hosting a free door drawing for her stuff. Win a blender! Or shot glasses! Win CDs! Or even a futon! Who doesn’t need a futon in NYC?

This party promises to be fun and celebratory with great entertainment. Attendees are encouraged to RSVP for reduced admission: [email protected]. More information: www.annierock.com.

More info on the bands:

7:30PM: Power-pop foursome and NYC natives Motion Picture open the night with their first performance in over two-years. Described as a cross between Blur and Elvis Costello, Splendid EZine praises lead singer-songwriter Michael Morgan's “ability to work the spectrum of pop flavors, slowing down to croon for his adoring girlies, then rocking out for their sneering boyfriends." In 2004, the band released their debut album Anhedonia, which charted on college radio stations around the county. After touring nationally, Motion Picture disbanded in 2006 after a band member moved away. The band unites for a one-night only performance for Annie’s Last Blast.

8:30PM: Fiery rock n' roll band Aloud is known for their tight male/female vocals, exceptionally strong songwriting, and energy-filled live performances. Lead vocalists/guitarists and songwriters Jen de la Osa and Henry Beguiristain grew up together and have been collaborating as songwriters since their early teens. The critically acclaimed up-and-coming group is based in Boston, and perform regularly throughout the Northeast, Midwest and Southeast. The Noise says Aloud’s sound is “…rockin', melodic songs delivered by two powerhouse singers… magnificent tunes and serious vocal chops… they're damned near flawless.” www.allthingsALOUD.com
