Acclaimed actress, playwright and MacArthur "Genius" Fellowship winner Anna Deavere Smith is best known for her documentary theatre-style plays that feature her as the sole performer of multiple, diverse characters. She is the recipient of two Drama Desk Awards, and she was nominated for a Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize. The New York Times called Ms. Smith "the ultimate impressionist: she does people's souls."
