The animal keepers at Cleveland Metroparks Zoo are hosting a silent auction, and the artwork up for grabs is so unique you won't be able to find it at any gallery.

Original paintings and prints by some of the Zoo's most popular animals can be yours at the Animals Creating Art Silent Auction from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, August 14 in The RainForest. The Greater Cleveland Chapter of the American Association of Zookeepers (AAZK) introduced the art auction in 2006 to impressive reviews.

The evening will include complimentary cocktails and hors d'oeuvres, with all proceeds benefiting non-profit conservation organizations.

Some of the wild art offered in the past included pieces by the Zoo's red kangaroos, Dara the Persian leopard, the bears of Northern Trek and the black rhinos. All pieces will be signed by the Zoo's animal keepers.

Admission to the AAZK Art Auction is $5 if you RSVP by August 7. After that, admission is $10 per person. Please RSVP by calling Animal Keeper Heather Strawn at (216) 661-6500 ext. 4452.
