This three-time Grammy nominee has cross-pollinated the West African traditions of her childhood in Benin with elements of American R&B, funk, jazz, and various European and Latin American styles. A world music diva, Kidjo has collaborated with artists such as Carlos Santana, Gilberto Gil, Branford Marsalis, Cassandra Wilson, and Dave Matthews. Kidjo employs a host of languages seamlessly in her music, maintaining her belief that disparate world cultures are interconnected in more ways than we realize.
