They say she invokes Tori Amos. She says she’s “piano-based, alt/indie pop for the disenchanted.” With less angst than Tori but more soul than the typical pop fare, New York City based songstress Angela Ortiz offers a heavenly mixture of lighthearted melody and jazz-inflected musicality on her newest release, All About You.

The singer-songwriter-instrumentalist, who says she has always known she was going to be a musician, shows off her wares in the form of impressive vocals, thoughtful lyricism, and soulful composition on this magnetic new album. Janelle Finamore of The Red Alert writes, “If Tori Amos is the standard that all aspiring female pop artists need to live up to, then Ortiz does not have a problem living up to these standards; in fact, she rises above them.” Having won the Silver Award at the 2006 Mid-Atlantic Songwriter Awards, Angela, whose music is regularly featured on radio including NPR’s Open Mic program, is preparing to take her music out of the New York City area with a national tour (details to follow).
