"Here is an astonishing demonstration of how to hold a capacity audience spellbound simply by applying the purest musicianship to the purest music" (The Daily Telegraph, London)

Returning to PCMS for a rare recital, Hungarian pianist András Schiff joins us at the Perelman Theater on Friday, October 31 at 8PM. Widely respected for his interpretations of Bach and the deconstruction of Beethoven's 32 sonatas, Schiff has also amassed numerous other achievements, including the creation of his own chamber orchestra, the Cappella Andrea Barca, and collaborations with orchestras around the world. Of course not surprisingly, Schiff is best known in the concert and recital halls where he "has thought long and lovingly about how to make music emerge naturally" (The New York Times). Ultimately, Schiff believes eloquently, deeply, in the music he plays. "The performer has to take a back seat," he says in an interview with Andante Magazine. "You are not the composer, but you still have to interpret. You cannot hang the music on the wall like a great painting."
