British filmmaker Tim Pearce’s 2011 documentary is a rare insight into a forgotten land, home to more than six million Mongolians, on the farthest edges of China. AnDa Union, a ten-member group of musicians, journeys through the vast grasslands of Inner Mongolia to show the roots of the band’s haunting and beautiful music. From wild parties to moving stories of sacrifice, from the intimacies of pastoral life to the harsh realities of the city, the film celebrates the musicians’ passion for their culture.
The film is presented in partnership with the Center for the Performing Arts at Penn State. See AnDa Union in concert at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, October 25, at Penn State’s Eisenhower Auditorium. For tickets or information, go to www.cpa.psu.edu.
