Kevin Whelan got his comedy career started in second grade by performing George Carlin routines for his classmates. However, it wasn’t until he was giving a command performance in the principal’s office for it in front of his mother (and a shocked principal) that performing became his first love when he saw how his mother had to struggle to contain her laughter and try to look angry. Kevin continued honing his comedic gifts while entertaining his friends all through school and when he took the stage for the first time as a freshman in college he used funny voices and faces to support material that was yet in the larval stage. Now that the material has taken shape, after several years of wearing many a car to its nub being a road warrior comic, the voices and faces have settled to the background. What is left is a honed comedic view of the middle class life from the inside out. What it’s like to work your way through college only to see that the American dream isn’t really waiting on us like it used to be and to decide to go after a childhood dream? Kevin can take hundreds of people at a time and make them feel like his closest friends as he waxes philosophical and tells them his beliefs on the afterlife or shares musings on the fairer sex. So to sum up, I guess Kevin Whelan is like a prostitute in the temple. What more could you ask for?
