An OscarŽ Evening With Richard Roeper To Benefit Children's Memorial Hospital February 11, 2006

What: To raise money for pediatric cancer research at Children's Memorial Hospital, Friends for Steven Pediatric Cancer Foundation will host the third annual OscarŽ Evening with Richard Roeper presented by Comcast Cable. The event will feature complimentary cocktails, hors d'oeuvres, dancing, live auction and a large silent auction.

Who: Chicago Sun-Times columnist and co-host of the nationally syndicated TV show "Ebert & Roeper," Richard Roeper will serve as emcee for the event which will include a discussion of the upcoming Academy Awards.

Why: Founded in 1997 in honor of and continuing in the memory of Steven Newkirk who was diagnosed with an aggressive pediatric cancer called neuroblastoma at age 5, Friends for Steven Pediatric Cancer Foundation is a non-profit organization that supports research to help children and their families struggling with the disease and other solid tumor cancers. To date, Friends for Steven has donated more than $1 million to support cancer research at Children's Memorial Hospital which is recognized as one of the top pediatric hospitals in the country and number one in Illinois by rankings published in U.S. News & World Report.
