- 2 Million Jobs Lost In 2008 -
- HR Budgets Slashed -
How Can HR Still Deliver What the Company Needs?

With a 2009 economic landscape being compared to the onset of the Great Depression, companies are preparing themselves for a tough road ahead. Many in HR have seen their assessment budgets slashed 20%, 50%, and even 100%. Given such events, how can HR continue to deliver the information and insights necessary for effective people management?

Is there a framework for making sense of the information in these difficult times? By studying periods of past mass layoffs, much can be learned about the challenges management will face today. Our research shows that while employees are, of course, more insecure after a layoff, they also have heavier workloads, higher stress, less teamwork, and feel "generally less valued." What specific actions should companies engaged in downsizing take to protect the survivors and business results?

Our briefing will blend together Sirota research with the thoughtful observations of many HR professionals who we recently queried about these topics. The result was what we call The HR Tool Kit, consisting of a framework (the non-negotiable HR deliverables and an assessment action plan under various budgetary scenarios, that participants can begin to use immediately).

The focus is action. The restriction of budgets doesn't lessen the need for the information. How can HR meet the short-term budget restrictions while still delivering the information and insights necessary around the management of people?

Please join us for what is bound to be a lively and action-oriented morning.
