SCRAP (Scroungers Center for Reusable Art Parts) is proud to present Recollections: Celebrating 30 Years of SCRAP, an exhibition of Bay Area artists whose work represents the ethos of SCRAP: reuse.

SCRAP has been promoting creative reuse and preventing reusable materials from becoming landfill for over 30 years. In 1978 SCRAP was incorporated as an independent non-profit organization.

To celebrate this milestone and pay tribute to those who have supported SCRAP over the years, and through all its changes in location, an exhibition of artists who work with reused materials and have an affiliation with SCRAP will be held November 3rd to the 25th at the Market Street Gallery with an artists' reception on November 15th from 6-8pm.

Exhibiting artists are Jody Alexander, Jeanine Briggs, Stacey Carter, Claudia Chapline, Deborah Colotti, Colette Crutcher, Christine Dhein, Kat Flyn, Deborah Hayner, John Kuzich, Laurielu, Reddy Lieb, Linda Masotti, Sara Morris, Jane Newman, Emiko Oye, Remi Rubel, and Sharon Siskin.

As a nonprofit creative reuse center, materials depot, and workshop space SCRAP takes donations of quality, clean, reusable materials such as fabric, paper, arts and crafts supplies, wood, beads, buttons, and so much more and makes these materials available as low-cost art supplies for teachers, parents, artists, and students. SCRAP helps reduce the waste going to crowded landfills by over 150 tons per year, and San Francisco schools and non-profits benefit by receiving badly needed art supplies. SCRAP provides workshops, field trips and hands-on activities at community events.

SCRAP's mission to stimulate artistic creativity and environmental awareness by promoting creative reuse of materials that would be discarded is as relevant today as it was when it first began. 30 years later, artists in the schools and in the broader community still rely on SCRAP for materials and as a resource for teaching the reuse ethic.
