SPORTSMEN TO SHARE STORIES

WESTLAND-- Longtime Detroit resident, Wally Triplett, 86, has a special place in football history. Triplett was the first African-American to be drafted and sign with an NFL team in 1949. Triplett will be speaking at the Westland Public Library on Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at 7:00 p.m.

Veteran sports broadcaster Raymond Rolak will introduce Triplett and address perseverance in sports. Rolak will also share some Wayne State University sports history and some humorous anecdotes from the new All-Hawaii full length comedy, “GET A JOB” in which he was an associate producer. www.getajobmovie.com

Triplett was a 1948 graduate of Penn State and will reminisce about his life journey and football experiences. The evening will also account some of the rich athletic history of times past in Detroit. Most fascinating will be some never before heard narratives by Triplett regarding Paul Robeson and Jackie Robinson.

This special enrichment event is sponsored by The Friends of the Westland Library and is free. The William P. Faust Public Library of Westland requests pre-registration: 16123 Central City Parkway, Westland, MI 48185 734-326-6123
