Acoustic guitarist Earl Klugh has a masterful way with a melody and arguably the prettiest tone in the business. Chet Atkins was an early model and inspiration for Klugh, and George Benson an important early mentor. Klugh’s 1976 self-titled debut as a leader established him straight away as a staple on jazz and smooth jazz radio, and the Detroit native has recorded regularly to much acclaim ever since. (He’s also collaborated with Bob James on several well-received albums.) Take this opportunity to hear Klugh’s sublime music in the intimate setting of Yoshi’s San Francisco, where he begins a tour in support of his new CD The Spice of Life.
