D. Graham Burnett will discuss whales, whaling and the history of science, and read from his new book, Trying Leviathan: The Nineteenth-Century New York Court Case That Put the Whale on Trial and Challenged the Order of Nature.

Professor Burnett will be joined by John Fabian Witt, Professor of Law and History at Columbia University.
