Bio:
Bill Boyarsky's long and distinguished career as a writer and journalist includes 31 years with the Los Angeles Times and prior to that, ten years with the Associated Press.

As an award winning columnist and City Editor for the Times, he covered the inner workings of government and politics at the national, state and local levels and also served as a general assignment reporter. Among his numerous professional honors, he participated in team coverage for the paper that won three Pulitzer Prizes and is a recipient of the California First Amendment Coalition journalist award.

He is the author of four books and has been awarded the John Jacobs fellowship for political biography from UC Berkeley's Institute of Governmental Studies for his forthcoming biography of former California State Assembly Speaker and State Treasurer Jesse Unruh.

Since his retirement from the Times in 2001, Mr. Boyarsky has been a lecturer and teacher at UC Berkeley and the University of Southern California as well as a consultant to the non-profit, non-partisan Center for Governmental Studies.

Boyarsky was appointed to a five year term on the City Ethics Commission by City Controller Laura Chick in 2003.
