There's an old saying, "For the child in all of us." And it rings true that we were each gained our sense of confidence and self that we carry with us today from the days of our youth. Since 1974 the East Bay has been home to this amazing organization dedicated providing a cross-cultural music education and performance program for youth, fostering talent, confidence, and community. Oakland Youth Chorus also produces two major concert events each year in the winter and spring showcasing the work of each award-winning music ensembles and also produces a Music of Our World concert featuring youth who are interested in percussion and African dance.

Imagine all the children and youth who have never had the opportunity to experience a group environment that is inclusive, diverse and safe. Consider all the children who are never exposed to the healing power of music. For us, such thoughts are unbearable. On Monday, October 20, 2008 at 8:00 PM and 10:00 PM joins us at Yoshi's Oakland for "An Evening of Blues, Jazz & Broadway" - A Benefit Concert in which all proceeds go to support Oakland Youth Chorus for Music Education.
