The modern mainstream fits Amina Figarova like a glove. Her compositions carry with them an exotic feeling of anticipation, along with their mesmerizing groove. At the piano, she's in control, improvising over lovely melodies and creating a storm of subdued passion.

Figarova not only is an unselfish and spirited piano player, but she's also an effective leader and composer, respectful of jazz tradition even as she personalizes it.

A docent-guided tour of Mayslake Hall will be offered before the concert at 6:30 p.m. at $5/person.
