The American Roots Music Festival is an annual family-oriented celebration of our shared musical heritage across the roots genres of folk, blues, jazz, bluegrass, gospel, etc.

For 2006 we are featuring 60's folk legend “The New Christy Minstrels” and three other outstanding groups, including “The Trail Band.”

Five original members of “The New Christy Minstrels” will be traveling to the area for a rare Northwest appearance. This event is for the entire family, so it should bring back some great memories for those who listened to the group in their youth while introducing their music to a whole new generation in the community.

Back by popular demand is “The Trail Band”, featuring some of Oregon's best musicians. They will perform the Lewis & Clark program that was a hit with last year’s Festival attendees. Rounding out the program will be the “Total Experience Gospel Choir” from Seattle and bluegrass music from “The Hakanson Family Band.”

Come to the Festival and see why one Letter to the Editor in last year’s Stayton Mail called this “…one of the community’s finest events.” and a music industry veteran from Portland said “There is something magical about your event…”

The American Roots Music Festival is a fundraiser for school music programs in the North Santiam School District and has contributed $8,500 to those programs over the past two years.

Proceeds from this event go toward supporting local school music programs.

Tickets range in price from $5 to $15. Tickets can be purchased online at www.armf.org. Various physical ticket outlets in the Salem area are listed on the site as well.
For more information, including song samples from the performers, visit www.armf.org or call 503-767-7464.

This event is sponsored by SCTC, Norpac Foods, Kettle Foods, West Coast Bank and Napa Auto Parts in Stayton.
