Yvonne is a divorced Chinese immigrant that has been assigned to write an article for a local newspaper about Jose, a Mexican American dentist who sets up a new practice nearby. A mutual attraction develops, but their ethnic differences and Yvonne’s commitments to her demanding family throw up some potential roadblocks. Can these two individuals from such diverse cultures combine their lives to become one big, happy family? With family dynamics that will remind you of the hilarity of your own, AMERICAN FUSION treats us to the possibility of finding true happiness in unexpected places.

Sylvia Chang (EAT DRINK MAN WOMAN; 20 30 40) and Esai Morales (NYPD BLUE; LA BAMBA) headline this feature with a wildly impressive supporting cast that includes Collin Chou (THE MATRIX REVOLUTIONS), Randall Park (NICK CANNON PRESENTS WILD’N OUT), and the late Pat Morita (KARATE KID) in one of his last appearances. Director Frank Lin puts together an uproarious first feature film that balances the ideas of family, race, and love.
