American Cancer Society Cure by Design September 24, 2011

Cure by Design is an event in which the fashion, design and retail communities join forces with the local corporate community to benefit the American Cancer Society. The focus of this special evening is a fashion show that spotlights designer fashions and, more importantly, the cancer survivors who model them. These survivor models are living proof of the strides we are making in the fight against cancer, and their vibrant smiles portray a message of hope for the cure.

The main event of the evening is a fashion show featuring designer fashions from fashion designers and local retailers modeled by cancer survivors of all ages. The event will last from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m., with the itinerary including a cocktail reception, silent auction, survivor fashion show, live auction, and a survivor reception. Guests will enjoy the chance to bid on exciting auction packages, such as weekend getaways, restaurants, wines, jewelry and original art. Tickets are on sale now for $125 each.

A cast of nearly 50 survivor models including men, women and children will walk the runway to celebrate the diversity of cancer survivorship. The advertisements for this year’ Cure by Design, photographed by Kristie Bradley, spotlight one of the event’s survivor models Chris Garrett.

Featured National designers include Alex Garfield, Johnathan Kayne and Tommy Hilfiger. Eveyln Bagala who is a Richmond-based designer will also be featured. Featured local retailers include Buttons & Bows, Eurotrash, Franco’s Fine Clothier, La Grande Dame, Pink, Saxon Shoes and The French Boutique.
Those who wish to purchase Cure by Design tickets should visit the event’s website, www.curebydesign.org, where they have the choice of placing an online order using a credit card. Tickets can also be purchased at the local American Cancer Society office.
