“Always Delightfully Cool” - Summer Vacations in Northern New England, 1825-1900 May 6, 2008

The exhibition will present a visual documentation of leisure travel in nineteenth-century New England with views of many of the region’s grand hotels and scenic sites. Advertising prints for railroad lines, steamers, and stage coaches will be included. The show's contents will be drawn primarily from the Athenæum’s rich collection of prints, photographs, maps, and vintage guidebooks.
