Alumni Fish Fry to raise money for MGCCC student scholarships

The catfish will be served hot and fresh again this year at the annual Harrison County Alumni Association Fish Fry April 17, 11 a.m.–1 p.m., in the Fountain Plaza area at the Jefferson Davis Campus of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. The fish fry, which is dine in or carry out, is sponsored by the association’s Harrison County chapter. Plates will be $7 and will include fried catfish, baked beans, coleslaw, a roll and dessert.

Money raised during the event will go toward Gulf Coast student scholarships. Last year, more than $10,000 was raised for scholarships by the Harrison County Chapter.

“Many of our students depend on some kind of financial assistance to attend Gulf Coast,” said Brenda Donahoe, alumni officer at Gulf Coast. “That assistance is even more vital in today’s uncertain economic times. That’s why events like this are so important – it gives students options, something to depend on when they need help reaching their goals.”
