Attention Polka fans. Come one; come all to the forty-fifth (45th) annual ALTAMONT SCHUETZENFEST September 17 and 18, 2010. A full line of events are scheduled for Friday night and all day Saturday. Friday night kicks off with the opening of the food court and beer gardens at 5:00pm and twilight Parade from the High School parking lot to the fairgrounds via Main Street. The Friday Night Band “Friction” will be playing from 7:45 PM until 11:45 PM. Saturday begins at 8:00 AM with the 5K run/walk sponsored by the Altamont Chamber of Commerce, Jeeps-n-Fest at 11:00am contact Darren Beccue at phone (618) 267-4120 for more information, the annual volleyball tournament begins at 10:00am contact Renee Beccue at (618)483-5532 for more information. The fun continues with a new attraction that the Schuetzenfest Board hopes everyone will enjoy the unique Polka sound of the “POLKAHOLICS” from the Windy City (Chicago, IL) Sponsored by Shiner Bock Beer. They will be playing from 6:30pm until 11:30pm. Don’t forget about the King and Queen contest. The Coronation will be at 9:00 PM. Queen candidates are: 1 Alyssa Conners 2 Kerry Phillips 3 Anna White 4 Sasha Zacha King candidates are: 1 Kyle Feldkamp 2 Joe Mayhaus 3 Trey Schlief 4 Brian Suckow Also, the Altamont Europe Trip and Altamont Living Museum fund raiser will raffle away a 1965 Mustang, and the Schuetzenfest Queen will draw the winning ticket Saturday.
