“…rockin', melodic songs delivered by two powerhouse singers… magnificent tunes and serious vocal chops… they're damned near flawless.” –The Noise

‘Singer Jen de la Osa has some really exceptional pipes, at times forlorn and dreamy like Fiona Apple and at other times roaring like Grace Slick or maybe even a slightly more lilting Janis Joplin. She trades off vocal duties with longtime collaborator Henry Beguirstain who has a more modern rock sound.” –Flagpole

NEW YORK Fiery rock n’ roll band ALOUD returns to Arlene’s Grocery on Thursday, June 17th for their first NYC performance of 2010. This date kicks off Aloud’s first run of summer touring in between studio sessions for their upcoming album.

Aloud are known for the dual-vocal attack of crooner Henry Beguiristain and powerhouse singer Jen de la Osa who have been collaborating as songwriters since their early teens. The critically acclaimed group is based in Boston, and performs regularly nation-wide. Their latest album, Fan the Fury, is an emotionally charged dichotomy of passionate rebellion and contemplative acceptance, delivered through driving grooves and dynamic melodies.

Aloud has been holed up in the studio for the past year, working on what will be their third album, to be released this fall. Aloud is heading in a new direction with this new release. "The perspective changed on the songs and how to approach them," says de la Osa; "Instead of a band in a room creating a song, it's more like using the studio to create the song - it's a piece of art, so you're going to throw a brushstroke here and what's it going to sound like?" Aloud has enjoyed the recording process, but the rigid studio schedule can cause cabin fever. “I'm ecstatic to get out in front of our audience after all this time in the bat cave,” says Beguiristain. “Live, the room shares a moment that can't be replicated. The rush of trying to overcome a mountain of things that can go wrong in a split second, you can't really get that from in the studio.”

Northeast Performer hails Aloud for its “unmistakable rock and roll stage presence” and “bona fide star power.” De la Osa howls “like the lost love child of Kim Deal and Patti Smith,” (Seven Days) as she “chisels every lyric into stone” (Boston Herald). The Post and Courier praises Aloud’s "...two voices for triumphant harmonies... [Jen] de la Osa's deep, almost Joplin-like voice adds thickness to the songs, while Beguiristain's vocals steadies the John Lennon-inspired tracks." Aloud has supported national acts such as The French Kicks, The Bon Savants, Von Iva, Robbers on High Street and Mando Diao.
