Performance to Man with a Movie Camera

“The best in the world at accompanying silent films.”

–Roger Ebert

Alloy Orchestra is a three-man musical ensemble that writes and performs live accompaniment to classic silent films. Known for their unique sound, combining found percussion and state-of-the-art electronics, Alloy has performed worldwide at prestigious film festivals, such as Telluride, and cultural centers, such as the Louvre and Lincoln Center.

At Wellesley, Alloy will present Man with a Movie Camera by Dziga Vertov, a groundbreaking documentary from the Moscow Film Archive about Soviet life and a treatise on filmmaking, shot on 35-mm film.

This program represents a collaboration between the Susan and Donald Newhouse Center for the Humanities, the Cinema and Media Studies program, and the Music Department.
