The Alliance Française de Minneapolis/St. Paul will be hosting their Fête de la Musique at Republic bar/restaurant in the 7 Corners neighborhood of Minneapolis on Thursday, June 21 at 7:00 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

Created to celebrate the moment of the summer solstice, Fête de la Musique was first proposed by American musician Joel Cohen in 1976. Cohen was employed by France Musique, the national French radio station. His idea became reality in 1982 when thousands of people flooded the streets to perform, dance, and celebrate the summer solstice. Since the first Fête de la Musique in 1982, the festival has spread to over 100 different countries. The Alliance Française holds their event to celebrate summer solstice and to bring French culture to the Twin Cities community through music, dancing, food, conversation, and good company.

The event will feature a rotating lineup of local artists representing various genres of music, including Americana rock, jazz, and lounge standards. Local musicians include Steve Noonan, Philippe Gallandat, Rachel Darling, Kate Shirg and more. Food and drinks will be available for purchase off the menu.
