Hollywood, Florida 33314

More than 2,500 men and women of the U.S. Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard will arrive at Seminole Paradise to participate in South Florida’s 21st annual celebration of the maritime services. The “All Hands on Deck” celebration, part of Fleet Week Port Everglades 2011 presented by Humana Military Healthcare Services, will help the public welcome our sea-going military personnel. A variety of fun and friendly activities including a DJ and dancers at Center Fountain, a “Pride” Navy Band concert and the Marlins Mermaids will add to the festive atmosphere.

Seminole Paradise retailers will also be offering various food and drink specials all evening.

Fleet Week Port Everglades 2011 is put on by area Navy Leagues and Broward Navy Days, Inc., a non-profit organization assisting with the morale and welfare of the crew members of our nation’s sea-going services: the Navy, Coast Guard and Marines.

Each year, thousands of sailors aboard multiple ships dock in Port Everglades for a week-long series of community service projects, special events and more. This year’s participating ships and units are:

Ø Multi-Purpose Amphibious Assault Ship USS Iwo Jima (LHD 7) from Norfolk, Va.

Ø Ticonderoga-class guided-missile cruiser USS Normandy (CG 60) from Norfolk, Va.

Ø Guided Missile Destroyer USS Ross (DDG 71) from Norfolk, Va.

Ø Fast Attack Submarine USS Annapolis (SSN 760) from Groton, Ct.

Ø Coast Guard cutter (yet to be named)

Ø U.S. Marines from 2nd Marine Division from Camp Lejeune, N.C.

Ø Sailors from Assault Craft Unit Four from Little Creek, Va.
