**Louise Downs of Metamora founded Desert Angels, Inc. in 2001 and she is responsible for the shipment of thousands of boxes filled with a variety of needed
items as well as words of encouragement to our troops overseas. She was given the nickname of the
“Desert Angel” by the thankful recipients. These boxes were named Miracle Boxes in honor of
Pfc. Joseph A. Miracle of Ortonville, who was killed in action in Afghanistan on July 5, 2007. This
young man is also the son of Glenn Miracle who is a member of Oakland County Sportsmen’s Club.
