Queen of Brit soul Alice Russell returns to the Jazz Cafe in support her forthcoming second album, My Favourite Letters, with support from Grand Pianoramax.

Alice Russell is hugely in demand as a vocalist and has gained an enviable reputation as one of the hottest singers in the UK right now. Renowned for her performances with Bah Samba, TM Juke, Kushti and of course as the mighty, if tiny front woman of The Quantic Soul Orchestra.

Alice?s lavishly soulful voice is both timeless and up to the minute modern. Whether live or on record, she always performs with her trademark self assurance and sass.

Her style is a predominantly bluesy, soul lament but encompasses everything from funk to gospel to jazz and beyond. Her performances have that rarest of qualities; the ability to captivate the audience and command its undivided attention, stirring your emotions and raising hairs on the back of the neck!

Alice's 2004 debut album, Under The Munka Moon, quickly garnered some top support from the likes of Trevor Nelson, Gilles Peterson, Ashley Beedle and Mr Scruff.

In 2005 Alice has released two solo single on Tru Thoughts, Hurry On Now and Sweet Is The Air. Produced and co-written by Tru Thoughts very own TM Juke, her forthcoming second album, My Favourite Letters (out September), retains an amazingly contemporary soul sound, combining live strings with horns and Alice?s powerful vocals.

"One of the hottest people in music right now, Alice Russell?s soulful vocals perfectly compliment the intelligently funky beats and remind us why she?s so in demand at the moment. Dig this." Knowledge Mag
