ALFI Community Veg Project Public Meeting November 22, 2010

The Alton Local Food Initiative (ALFI) is planning a new one acre community vegetable garden on the outskirts of Alton.

The project will be launched at a public meeting on Monday 22 November, 7.30pm-9.30pm at St Mary's Church Hall, next to Alton station.

Anyone interested in local food and growing their own vegetables as part of a community initiative are very welcome.

The grower from the successful community initiative, Farnham Local Food, will give a speech on making local food work. This is a really exciting venture for ALFI. We have shown that community growing can work well on the small scale in our plots and pots around Alton over the last year - now we have a fantastic opportunity to expand and make a significant difference to the amount of local vegetables grown and eaten in Alton. We know that lots of people love the idea of truly local food - this is our chance to make it happen here in Alton.
