As the offspring of a German artist father and Cypriot choreographer mother who now splits her time between Dusseldorf and Nicosia, Alexandra Waierstall knows all about crossing borders. But the borders she’s examining in her five-strong piece are as much psychological as they are physical, as much about notions of stretching mental limits as about hard geography. For Waierstall, dance is about capturing still moments from everyday actions and transforming them from the tangential to the tangible.
