ALBINO! presents a Fela Kuti Birthday Tribute plus DJ Jeremiah October 19, 2012

ALBINO! returns to the Elbo Room in San Francisco on Friday, October 19th for a very special evening when they will be honoring the birthday of the man who continually inspires their music, Fela Kuti. A Nigerian born singer/songwriter whose work and music is present around the globe, even as the subject of a Broadway musical produced by Will Smith and Jay Z, Fela created a revolutionary sound in the 70's: Afrobeat, a cross-breeding of Funk, Jazz, Salsa and Calypso with Juju, Highlife and African percussive patterns. ALBINO! will be celebrating in style for this unique birthday show, with a plethora of Fela's music, arranged especially for the evening.

ALBINO! will also be featuring Kelly Takunda Orphan of the KTO Project, a talented and versatile singer with Armenian roots whose voice embraces several musical styles including soul, jazz, gospel and more. This birthday party promises to be full of great grooves and fun surprises!!
