ALASH are masters of Tuvan throat singing, a remarkable use of the voice that must be heard to be believed. The Washington Post described their music as “utterly stunning,” quipping that after the performance “audience members picked their jaws up off the floor.”

Hailing from the tiny Republic of Tuva in Central Asia, this gifted young group remains true to their unique musical inheritance while welcoming western influences. The resulting blend sounds fresh, enchanting, yet always decidedly Tuvan.

The president of Tuva has recently honored Alash member Bady-Dorzhu Ondar, only 23 years old, with the title of People’s Xöömeizhi of Tuva, the highest honor in throat singing.
