Astronaut and artist Alan Bean became the fourth man to walk on the Moon during Apollo 12 in 1969. After 18 years as an astronaut, he resigned from NASA in 1981 to dedicate his life to the art of painting his memories of Apollo. Using an impressionistic style, Bean captures the spirit of Apollo with lunar landscapes, portraits of fellow moonwalkers, and views of Earth from space. The exhibit, featuring both art and artifacts, weaves the technology of one of humankind's greatest achievements with an artist's firsthand account of a new frontier.
